Who’s Hungry? - Is it the Hungry Ghosts?
Using black and white pastels gifted to me I record a dream in a poem - ‘Chalk’ and then use the pastels to make an image. I read the poem wearing the monochrome blanket I envisaged. This black, white and all the shades between are showing up in everything - sometimes with a touch of gold. I see a gateway in this image as though the ghosts are calling me through to meet them.
Feeling in to the idea of hungry ghosts dancing
Gifted pastels mentioned in ‘Chalk’
I drafted a poster for my tutorial and discussed my understanding of methodology vs method my understanding had been a throwback to my economic assessment research days. I understand now about positioning and there being an underpinning theory - this left me with options to consider. Feminism and body positivity, neuro-science and poly-vagal theories, Gabor Mates’s ideas of hungry ghosts and addiction perhaps? I realise I need to find a position on this that anchors my research plan, there is complexity here I feel my position as changeable - which is not unusual for me. A counsellor tells me a state of confusion is a pre-requisite for counselling to be successful - I’m imagining there is some similarity here. My work is to be with the discomfort of not knowing before some insight comes from the reading. I decide to map it all out - see later blog
1st draft of research poster, ideas around imagery.
